Jasmine Hoy named Club's Youth of the Year
A strong tradition in Evansville.
At the Club's 1st TGI Friday's Steak & Burger - Youth of the Year Lunch held August 7, Jasmine Hoy was named the Youth of he Year. Jasmine, pictured at right (photo courtesy Evansville Courier & Press, Rich Davis), has been coming to the Club since she was 8 years old. She is considered a leader among her peers, and her service to the Club as a teen leader is invaluable.
Youth of the Year is a national Boys & Girls Clubs of America program focusing on character, leadership and service. Jasmine will compete at the state level next spring, and if successful, will continue to the regional and potentiall national competition.
Evansville's own Ed Bassemier was the 1965 Boy of the Year. He had th opportunity to meet President Lyndon Johnson and then Vice President Richard Nixon.

American General Financial Servicesannounces $500,000 gift!
The new facility has a name.
On July 2, 2008, at 2PM, Robert A. Cole, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Insurance, with American General Financial Services, announced their gift of $500,000 for the Club's new facility. The new facility will be named the American General Financial Services Boys & Girls Club of Evansville.
“AGFS is pleased to provide a significant financial contribution to make the new Boys & Girls Club of Evansville a reality,” said Frederick W. “Rick” Geissinger, AGFS Chairman and CEO. “This project is an excellent fit with the AGFS Foundation’s focus of youth and education, and will provide a lasting legacy to thousands of area children.”
“We are very grateful to AGFS for their generous support,” said Ron Ryan, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville. “With AGFS’s donation, we have now raised over 80% of our capital campaign goal of $5 million.”
Groundbreaking for the new facility will be held on July 8, 2008, 10AM, with construction projected to last for 10 months. With over 1,400 members at the current Main Unit, the membership number, along with average daily attendance, is expected to double within the first year of operation. Over 4,300 children reside within a one mile radius of the new site.
