Welcome to the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville
The American General Financial Services Boys & Girls Club of Evansville is officially open !
At 9am on June 1, 2009, the new Club - the American General Financial Services Boys & Girls Club of Evansville - officially opened! With over 300 children in the building and several hundred additional parents and guests, the first day of serving kids at the new facility was a huge success. The Club enrolled well over 100 new members and renewed the memberships of hundreds of kids who were prior members.“Today is truly a special day as we open our doors to the over 4,300 children living within a one-mile radius of our new facility,” said Ron Ryan, Executive Director. “We are grateful for all of the support the community has offered in making this facility come to life.”
The new facility will be open Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm. The membership fee is $10 for a year. The address is 700 Bellemeade Avenue, located in Bellemeade Park in the heart of Evansville's Center City. Club officials expect to double, if not triple the number of children served at this site. An official ribbon cutting, an open house, as well as a special donor recognition celebration will be scheduled in the near future.
The Kresge Foundation Awards $250,000 Challenge Grant to Boys & Girls Club Building Campaign
The Kresge Foundation, headquartered in Troy, Michigan, has awarded the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville a $250,000 Challenge Grant for the Club’s $5 million campaign to fund the building of the new facility located at Bellemeade Park. The Kresge Foundation, with assets over $3 billion, annually awards millions of dollars to non-profit organizations to assist in capacity building and capital projects.
With The Kresge Foundation’s $250,000 grant, the Boys & Girls Club has now secured $4,725,215.
“The Kresge Foundation is challenging the Boys & Girls Club and our entire community to reach our $5 million goal,” said Ron Ryan, Executive Director of the Club. “This is a unique opportunity for our entire community to receive national attention and to demonstrate the true philanthropic spirit of Southwestern Indiana.”
The Boys & Girls Club expects to begin moving to the new facility in May 2009 and be open in late May 2009. With over 4,300 children, age 0-17, living within a one-mile radius of the new site, the Club anticipates a major increase in the number of youth served.
“We are grateful for The Kresge Foundation’s generosity,” said Ryan. “It is a tremendous honor to receive this grant, and the award is even more meaningful considering the state of the economy.”

We provide a safe and fun environment for the young people of our community to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We achieve this by providing comprehensive educational and recreational programming.
The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville is a very special place for thousands of young people. Here is just part of what makes us so special:
1. Dedicated Youth Facility - our main facilities are designed specifically to serve youth.
2. Open Daily - we are open every day after school and during the summer. We are also open on many of the holidays when school is not in session.
3. Professional Staff - the staff of the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville are trained professionals who are positive role models for the members.
4. Affordable/Available to All Youth - we reach out to kids of all races, religions and ethnic cultures who cannot afford other programs or lack access to them. Membership dues are low, only $10 per year, although it costs BGCE over $350 per year to provide programming for one child.
